Part B can wait while you are working

Worth knowing: Two clocks start when the job ends
8 months for Part B, 2 months for drug coverage, both starting when the job or the coverage ends — whichever comes first. The short one is the one people miss. COBRA does not extend either.
Worth knowing: Check the drug coverage counts
An employer drug plan has to be at least as good as Medicare's to count. The plan sends a notice each autumn saying whether it is — keep it. If it is not creditable, the Part D penalty is running while you use it.
Fine as it is: The employer's plan pays first
At 20 or more employees the group plan pays first and Medicare pays second, so you can put off Part B while you are still working there without the late penalty running.
Fine as it is: Part A is usually free to take
Forty quarters of work make Part A premium-free, and taking it alongside an employer plan generally costs nothing. There is a reason not to if you are paying into a health savings account — you are not.
